The Bloodborne PC Port Is Now THE BEST WAY To Experience This 2015 Masterpiece!
For those of you who don't know... I am a HUGE FromSoftware fanboy (yea no kidding!). And Bloodborne was my first introduction to FromSoftware all the way back in 2016 (yes I know I didn't play the game on release! But give me a break!) and I have been HOOKED ever since.
So when Lance Mcdonald (https://x.com/manfightdragon) first showed off his 60fps update for Bloodborne I was immediately hooked into trying it out for myself. I even debated finding a launch model PlayStation 5 with old original firmware so I could at the time run the only PlayStation 5 exploit to enable me to run unsigned software updates. And at the time those units were going for a ludacris $1500 on the used market (not so funny now as that is how much new PlayStation models are almost selling for these days haha). But I opted to just wait and I was glad I did because I was able to finally play Bloodborne in 60fps glory via ShadPS4, a PlayStation 4 PC emulator that seamingly came out of nowhere and was basically designed JUST to run Bloodborne on PC.
Even in early versions my experience was good but not perfect. I encountered random crashes and the odd bug here and there. But I still preferred playing this version of Bloodborne over natively playing it on my PlayStation 5 which was still locking the game to 30fps even though the hardware was perfectly capable of handling playing the game at 60fps. There was also the Vertex Explosion issue where NPC face data was causing the ShadPS4 version of Bloodborne to randomly explode vertices

"example of the vertex explosion issue in ShadPS4"
The solution? You had to run a mod called "Vertex Explosion Fix" which removed all face data from regular character NPC's including your own character. Which meant that all NPC's just had a default dough eyed face. Not a big issue as you mostly have your Fashion-Souls going with your favorite gear on which usually covers the player characters face. But it was still annoying none the less.
Fast forward to today, and there is now a recompiled version of Bloodborne running semi natively on PS4. Using Vibe coding with a mix of the ShadPS4 underlining tech to be able to give you as close to a native PC experience as possible And I gotta tell you
IT RULES
Not only am I able to play Bloodborne in 4k resolution, but I am also able to play at 120fps and this port natively supports widescreen resolutions and also has a lot of modern PC gaming features, like DLSS and FSR support as well as Framegen. The game runs flawlessy, I was able to complete a full playthrough + DLC without any issues.
The future is NOW! And games that were seamingly locked to forgotten console and tied up in IP ownership battles can now be freed and enjoyed by a much larger audience. I am now seeing tons of posts from people on X sharing how much they are loving Bloodborne, having never played (SIN!) before due to now owning a PlayStation 4 or 5.
With how quickly AI is advancing, we are in a crazy cross roads with technology and we are probably going to see a lot more instances like this, where older games that were forgotten or locked to sub par framerates due to sub par hardware / optimization are now being reborn and fully unleashed to their max potential.
And I am here for it!
